The Arizona Horseman’s Challenge & Expo would like to congratulate Cliff Schadt, Jr as the 2019 Arizona Horseman’s Challenge Champion. The 2019 Arizona Horseman’s Challenge & Expo took place in Queen Creek at Horseshoe Park & Equestrian Centre April 19-21, 2019. The cornerstone of this event is the Arizona Horseman’s Challenge- Arizona’s Premier Colt Starting Competition. The first training session began Friday afternoon with the trainers choosing their horses from a group of untrained BLM mustangs from the Florence holding facility. Arizona trainers included Eric Parmer, Jeff Cook, Regina “Regi” Richter with Brandy Stevenson and Cliff Schadt, Jr. coming from Texas and Florida respectively. This is an unparalleled opportunity to watch 5 experts side by side with different techniques and talents over 8 hours with the purpose of providing the best foundation for the horse. After having a great start in their training, the mustangs were returned to the Florence holding facility where they were offered for adoption or sent into the Arizona Wild Horse Inmate Training Program. The judges for this event each have years of experience and wisdom earned working with horses. The four top-notch judges had their work cut out for them watching and evaluating this diverse group of trainers, and at the end of a great weekend of training, Cliff Schadt, Jr was awarded the championship.
